Andrew Nobbay currently serves as Carbon Accounting Director with Oxy, where he is responsible for climate-related accounting and reporting at the corporate level.
Andrew joined Oxy in Qatar in 1995 and helped set up the Finance function for the multi-billion-dollar Id Al Shargi project. He subsequently progressed through multiple roles in Finance, Accounting, Reporting, Control and Commercial Development. He has served in positions of Manager, Director, Controller and Vice-President in Oxy’s Oil & Gas and Corporate groups in Qatar, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Bahrain and Houston. Most recently, he served as Commercial Director in the Low Carbon Ventures team, supporting carbon sequestration projects in the US, Canada, Australia and Europe. Prior to joining Oxy, Andrew was a senior business consultant and auditor with Arthur Andersen.
Andrew graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Accounting from the University of Bombay, India. He later earned an MBA from Imperial College London and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Nottingham Trent University, both in England. As part of his executive education, he completed the Strategic Finance Leadership Program at the Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
Andrew serves as a Corporate Fellow with the MBA program of the Marilyn Davies School of Business at the University of Houston Downtown. In this role, he has taught managerial accounting, including capital planning, cost analysis and budgeting, to hundreds of MBA students. Andrew is a member of Financial Executives International (FEI), where he serves on the Board of Directors of the FEI Houston Scholarship Foundation and as Committee Chair for CFO University, an annual educational program.
